In building a global marketing strategy, it is important to note the various cultures with their different perceptions to brand extensions. Many countries have found difficulties in launching a successful brand extension because of these factors. Many marketers continue to experience challenges in the marketing and management of global marketplaces since the world economy steadily became cross-cultural. There is a difference between the levels impact and influences of these Hofstede's dimension on Nike in the United States as compared to the state of Brazil.
Hofstede’s model is known to differentiate cultures according to different dimensional levels. The model suggests that cultures from various countries are based on reality, what is globally applied and what is unique and determined by cross-cultural relationships. In the case of the power distance, being unique represents the inequity among different cultures (Mooij, 2010). In the United States, power distance will have less impact on the brand as compared to Brazil where there is a lower power range.
To address the cultural dimensions, there has to be a marketing strategy that will allow the brand to gain a place in the market segment. The initial step that Nike can engage in is to embark on promoting the brands name and image to the global market through every possible means that include advertisements. It can be through the use of the internes services of the social media platforms.
