Future Trends in Management
The quality of management in the next decades will be different from the current trends. There are significant trends that are developing nowadays with their positive impacts on organizations. The effectiveness of these trends will depend on managing the quality initiatives in the future.
Management trends are changing as time goes by. The changes happen due to the transformation of technology and need to have the right information for accurate decision making. The main objective is to optimize the business processes. In addition, the way the management and employees interact is also changing with the role of information. The report looks at the trends that change the information practices in management. In addition, it presumes the possible ways of using information for developed scenarios by the workers in the near future.
The future trends may include: improving and evolving of management quality; profound knowledge trend is expected; the six sigma initiatives will be managed as a successful project; change management by organizations will take place to ensure that there is consistency in the work processes; improvement of management will be significant to the organizations; organizations will need to focus on the quality supply management resources and spending; the quality standards will change from the realm of work processes to job functions; the quality departments will do the strategic quality planning to gain the success.
Globalization, new technologies, generational and cultural shifts help people handle and make use of data using new ways. The emerging markets are providing competition for new firms, sources of talent and customers (Fredric 57). Therefore, managements are required to adapt to the new trends that are emerging.
Adapting the global offerings organizations need to be regional. The adaptation is called “glocalization” and the need is growing with the changing trends. The customization needs a bottom up approach, which should capture the comprehensive knowledge on the regional distinctions.
Organizations, even in the native countries, have to take into account these shifting cultural practices. In the future, majority of the work forces will be of the millennium generation. It is an age bracket that has grown up in the digital technology. In addition, they show interest in the working conditions, which are flexible and have flat hierarchies.
The consumers, on the other hand, are becoming increasingly discerning and well informed, because technology is aiding them to compare the different products in the market. The trends will make customers less driven by the brand loyalty. However, this will change, and they will seek to get the personalized offering that gives convenience to location and time. Moreover, the traditional roles will merge, because the customers will want to create value by themselves. In addition, they will seek to share with others and draw a difference from the collected intelligence on the social networks.
The new corporate cultures have to embrace the change that is constant. Globalization and digital technologies will allow for the imitations of services and products that are successful, and that make them get into the market more quickly. Thus, high performers will be compelled to shorten their innovation cycles. Development of quicker and more flexible models of business will be needed. The relationship among the organizations will be formed on project by project basis.
The new technologies will assist in the changing workplace. The organizations will not need to invest in the IT infrastructure; rather, they will have to purchase the IT capacity that is needed by use of services like software’s and cloud computing.
Sensors and computers will become pervasive. They will be embedded in almost all objects ranging from the coffee machines to the other devices that are usually having mobile services. All this will make the user’s experience become more immerse. The wall sized LED displays and other miniature projectors that are known as Pico beamers will require this experience. These devices are able to project the nearby surfaces.
The video gamers are already moving their bodies while playing. In addition, the computers understand speech and gestures. They are turning the human body into some powerful input devices.
Organizational information has gotten into a level of formidable complexity, because the demands and open decision making are increasing. However, this has posed the challenge of picking out the most relevant and high quality information, which requires the understanding of both the situation, in which it is used, and the framework, in which the data is found.
Managing the trends that have developed over the years will require some concepts for organizations to keep at per. Central concepts will include: semantics, bionics, and analytics. Semantics uses metadata in understanding and describing the information. Bionics uses the model of nature in design systems that heal, learn, and organize themselves.
Information Redefined
The amount of data that are stored within organizations is continuing to grow. Information that explains metadata is required to make sense of the value that is within the organization. The electronic documents are described by metadata. The computers will be able to make connections in the organization’s silos, across global semantic web, or with partner organizations. Thus, future employees will be able to create queries that concern their issues, using the search engines in the web.
Workplace Redefined
The worker today sits at a personal computer that is loaded with standardized software. The software draws resources of the processor and local hard drive. In case of hard drive crash or laptop theft, the data that are stored at the local site is lost.
In the future, the employees will need to collaborate with their colleagues using cloud tops, which are thin client computers and are always on line. They will have small operating systems and processors. In addition, these computers will rely on the cloud based services and data. Thus, the employees will be able to access the customized applications. Moreover, they will be competent to generate their own mashups by use of point and click toolboxes.
The automatic computing will make the IT environment safe. It will be done by imitating a self-regulating biological system, which will keep on continuously checking and optimizing the status.
Collaboration Redefined
The employees at the moment are collaborating by use of logs, wikis, social sites, among other tools. However, the applications have been developed separately and work in parallel to each other.
To achieve the business goals and objectives, these diverse tools need to work together. A model has to be developed clearly for this purpose. In the future, the integrated collaboration sites are expected to enable employees become more productive. Developed complex presence systems that are capable of understanding the facial expressions and gestures will allow for full communication. It is more complicated than the system of Web conferencing that is in place today.
New business models will be developed, as a result. The crowd sourcing will come to offer in time experts just the way that the cloud computing system is offering applications. Furthermore, bio-teaming will use the principles that are learned from nature in optimizing how individuals can work together. It can be represented by the model of the bees or ants, which can work together using non-verbal communication. The computers will also share employee status and work with the information in ways that will aid the group to complete projects successfully.
The scenarios that give a look at the future information management trends include: real time reality mining, augmented social workplaces, experts as a service, and personal decision engines.
Real Time Reality Mining
Using the cell phones in updating the social media status helps to create information shadow on the activities undertaken by people. It can be done by moving in relation to the given direction. The data can be added to information by Internet connected objects and sensors. The computers in the same way will give a richer picture of the real world activities to be analyzed. The predictive algorithms will anticipate on the behavior of a person, both at collective and individual levels.
The real time reality mining will at the same time enhance organizational ability to react at once, which in turn will bring changes to the behavior of competitors and customers. In addition, the business processes will become more situational and spontaneous. It will adapt instantly to the reality changes and seize the business opportunities that exist (Kate 135).
Modern technology, such as application City sense iPhone, shows the users on city maps. It is very convenient for the user to find different locations. The Path Intelligence, on the other hand, monitors the paths of consumers in locations of shopping. The tools also help mall owners to optimize the floor plans, and the tenant mixes.
Augmented Social Workspaces
In the nearest future it will be possible to create augmented social workplaces with a help of modern technology. A user with a smart phone application such as Twit Around, for example, can visit a public place and have a view on what the other people are posting on sites like Twitter. The screen of the smart phone will show the view by use of the phone’s camera and the messages of Twitter will be shown next to the pictures. For example, a research project uses the Pico beamer to project data at the nearby surfaces. In addition, the user can control the applications...
