Restaurants in the Future
One of the emerging trends in the hospitality sector is that the industry is in line to outpace the current economy for the 12th in succession. Financial analysts and economists predict that the value of sales is poised to rise to significant figures soon (Butler, Tischler, Berkrot, & Tantor Media, 2016). That change is expected to result from the current trends in technology that has enabled restaurants to have an edge in profit margins.
Some of the current trends that are in the market include the signing of credit card bills using fingers. Such provisions are provided by apps that enable customers to use the technology in placing their orders in restaurants (Leopold & Kaltenecker, 2016). That has marked the onset of another phase that is predicted to cause a revolution in the hospitality industry, specifically in the restaurants sector. This report presents how the restaurant sector will be revolutionized in the future because of the use of touch screen food vendors.
Touchscreen Food Vendors
An example of such touchscreen food vendor boxes is used in machines where the restaurants sell ice cream. The machine can dispense an average of 96 variations of ice cream in a record time of 40 seconds. The technology has also been adopted at Coca-Cola. Some depots of the company in various markets such as some sections of the United States of America use a soda fountain that is known as Freestyle (Hitt, Ireland, Duane, & Hoskisson, 2016). Every touchscreen device can dispense a minimum of 100 different tastes of beverage. That is to mean that it allows a customer to select among the existing tastes such as Fanta, Sprite, Crest, Black Current, and Stoney, among others.
These touchscreen devices are expected to find broad application in restaurants and cafeteria settings. However, users must be prepared to meet the cost of the convenience and efficiency that accompanies the machine. The manufacturers of the machine have priced it highly. With more designs and modifications of the current model expected, the prices are bound to rise. For instance, the Freestyle that is used by some Coca-Cola depots goes for a lease of $320 on a monthly basis (Hitt, Ireland, Duane, & Hoskisson, 2016). That means that the machine costs approximately 30 times the cost of ordinary soda dispensers.
Several features make this machine unique. It is also these features that make it capable of making an impact in the hospitality industry. It has telemetry systems that have communication sensors that are wireless or fixed. They are found in the system that manages content and enables sales to be conducted remotely (Quelch, 2016). It will also enable users to conduct monitoring of the level of cash, route optimization, inventory, and purchasing. Additionally, its maintenance costs are low because diagnosis can be conducted remotely through an integrated system.
It also supports the integration of Enterprise Resource Planning. As such, real-time communication with other systems is supported. Such systems include order processing, automated restocking, planning, finance, dispatch, and maintenance. These services will be done automatically through the use of database management systems and software (Quelch, 2016). Automation will enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effective of performance. It will also improve the quality of the services offered to the customers, justifying the worth of the cost of the services.
There are also several advantages that justify the use of these machines in the future. First, they are easy to use. The ease of use makes these touchscreen machines easier to use than other input methods in the market today (Smith, 2016). Users need to operate the screen by touching the icons that have the services that contain what they require. That is easy especially for those who have some background on computing and using computers. As such, it also reduces the time that customers take to make orders and the speed at which they are received and processed.
The interface of touchscreen helps in reducing the training that is required for the employees. It also empowers the customers to access useful information such as new menus, prices, special offers, and dates that the restaurants might not be operational (Smith, 2016). Additionally, these services can be implemented through the use of self-service kiosks and restaurants. It also enables employees to conduct multiple tasks simultaneously. Touch screens have the capability of juggling of multiple tasks. That is because they have touch-screen interfaces that are easy to us...
