Organization Analysis: USO
Introduction
United Service Organization, Inc. or USO is formerly known as United Service Organizations for National Defense, Inc. this is a nonprofit and private social-service agency first chartered on February 4, 1941. This organization aims to provide services in form of recreational, welfare and social for the member of the United States armed forces and their family.
This was created to serve the purpose of enhancing the morale and quality of life of those men who are in service. As the year passes many difficulties have been encountered by the organization that forced them to close down including war, but they envision achieving a more significant role and were able to enlarge their service when they are back on track in the 1950s. Services that were offered varies from human services such as counseling, drug-abuse programs, and even housing information (Britannica, n.d.).
One of the programs I was able to participate in, is derived from Bob Hope’s Christmas, which is embodied by the organization itself, main task is to provide entertainment among servicemen who are visiting for holidays. They were able to share stories, knowledge, and experiences in a safe and non-criticizing environment. This was a great way of ensuring that the mental health of these men is being taken care of, providing peace and happiness. Multiple engagements have been made that will keep them comfortable, wherein my own opinion is a great way of handling their emotional and mental capacities.
Vision and Mission
Since the company has been known to serve military services member and their family, the mission they would like to achieve is ensuring that they will stay connected even they are a million miles apart. They would like to prepare families and the servicemen about the nature of the job. Assistance in joining assignments, deployments and even transitioning back to the community has been offered to the military members to make sure they are physically, mentally, and emotionally equipped.
On the other hand, USO also educates the family about the need of the job and its importance to make sure that both ends will meet in understanding the missions that were assigned. They also offer services outside the missions that will take care of the military and their family's wellbeing. Even the USO is not part of the Federal government many supporters have shown great concern about the organization as it aims for the greater good. Volunteers such as individuals, other organizations, corporations, and even military family members lend their hand for support to accomplish the mission and vision of the company.
Core Values
The values of the organization are not only to support the organization’s name or its executives. But they are highlighting the values which are Mission First, Respect, Excellence, Gratitude, Innovation, Accountability, Do the Right Thing, and Collaboration. They think of this as the key points in achieving their mission and continuously incorporated by the volunteer’s and organization’s behavior.
Talent Management
USO continues to recruit talent who can bring joy and has a strong sense of dedication to the job. It requires emotional stability as they are dealing with people who might have undergone a heavy mission before entering any of their programs. They would like to ensure that talents who will join
