Proposed Project Title Factors Promoting Group Cohesion in Business as an Important Organizational Behavior Description of the Proposed Research Project In a business or an organization with the aim of gaining profits, there is the need of encouraging cohesive groups which will promote the realization of business objectives. This will therefore be a research project aimed at exploring this question: Are there a number of factors that influence the formation and encouragement of cohesive groups in a business organization? Organizational behavior denotes very many issues ranging from mentorship, leadership and cohesion (Maryann, 2004). All these promote the speed at which objectives and business goals are realized. This calls for a research study in understanding some of the factors that hinder formation of cohesive groups and those encouraging their formation. The major questions to be addressed in this study include: 1 How is cohesiveness in business organizations encouraged? 2 What organizations or businesses have adopted specific factors and issues towards encouraging cohesive groups? 3 How is Cohesion important for a given organization or business? 4 How can cohesive groups be encouraged in a business organization aimed at making profits? 5 Are Companies and Businesses trying to adopt or encourage factors and situations which promote cohesiveness? 6 Are businesses planning to encourage these factors? 7 Will the significance of cohesive groups in organizations lose meaning or will continue being greatly considered? Personal Interest in Pursuing this Project For a number of years, I have been pleased by the dynamic areas tackled by Business Administration ranging from marketing, accounting, finance and quantitative analysis and organizational behavior. When it comes to organizational behavior, I have noted that the kind of managerial practice and relationship in an organization tends to greatly influence the performance and business record of an organization (Wentling, 2000). Also, encouragement of cohesiveness in a business promotes operations and performance. I am interested in this topic because I have realized that without cohesion a business might not perform as expected. Because of this, there are some factors that promote cohesive groups and barriers which have the capability of discouraging such groups. I therefore believe a study on this topic would be appropriate in understanding the major factors which have the capability of promoting cohesion in an organization (Riccucci, 2002). Being optimistic to become a manager, I would rely on this information in promoting cohesion in the organization so as to encourage employee performance. This will result in increased business gains. Potential Benefits to Business Organizations Business experts argue that, for an organization to perform, all organizational issues should be put into consideration within the business. Carrying out this research will give an analysis of the major factors that can be adequately adopted towards the improvement of cohesiveness and organic performance which improves the realization of goals. Therefore, the research findings, discussions, conclusions and recommendations of this research project will be significant in providing guidelines and insights that can be adopted in improving the effectiveness of organizations and productivity of employees working as a team within their groups. The spirit of teamwork will be greatly appreciated in business organizations once this research has been successfully completed (Wentling, 2000). This will lead to increased appreciation of cohesion in businesses and propagate the major factors which can lead to increased realization of profits. This will improve the managerial practices in organizations and by so doing see more cohesive groups being encouraged. Gathering of Information In a research study like this one, it is required that one gathers all information available so as to have good and viable results. This will ensure that the project is significant to a number of business organizations. The good thing with my project is that there is sufficient secondary information available on the issue to be addressed in this project (Riccucci, 2002). Therefore, it would be important to adopt both secondary and primary methods of research. I will employ these methods in gathering the information: Primary Research 1 Five organizations will be visited where face-to-face interviews will be held with the managers to know the understanding of cohesion in such organizations, and how cohesive groups are encouraged. 2 Questionnaires will also be distributed to different employees in different organizations, students and businesses so as to give their views and opinions on cohesion groups in business organizations. Basically, the research subjects will specifically be organizations to see their understanding of cohesive groups, how they can be encouraged, and how they can be adopted to improve realization of goals in the business. As it can be noted, only a considerable number of individuals shall be interviewed through the questionnaires and through face-to-face (Riccucci, 2002).
