12 Life Hacks for Lazy Students Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Introduction College can be hectic. With all the lectures, books, essays, tests, and assignments, lazy students often have a hard time keeping up. Being a lazy student doesn’t mean you’re dumb. With a few tricks up the sleeve, a lazy student can do just fine in any academic environment. In fact some of the life hacks save a lot of time and can be easily done without the need for a handful of tools. So, when you’re simply a lazy student, these life hacks will come to your rescue. Record your lectures. The cell phone is probably the best thing that a lazy student could have. Apart from having access to entertainment anytime and anywhere, this device can come in handy when you don’t feel like listening to long and boring lectures. Just switch on your video camera and record everything the lecturer says while you read your favourite comic book or even study for an upcoming test in a different class. You can transfer your recorded classes to your personal computer later. The videos will definitely come in handy when you decide to study days or hours before a test or examination. This hack also works if you’re used to missing classes. Have a friend record the lectures for you and you can get them later. Voice recordings can also be used and they give the student an opportunity to listen to them at higher speeds and save time studying. Have your essays done online. Essays and term papers are the least favourite for lazy students. However, this is no longer a problem most students. There are hundreds of online platforms ready to do essays and term papers for a fee. Some of the websites even offer an opportunity for the student to set really low prices and get to ensure that the work is done before payment. For this to work properly, you may need to provide some of the recorded lectures. This life hack guarantees any lazy student a good grade and almost no work at all. Make a hardworking friend and keep them close. Most lazy students spend their time attending parties, playing video games, or having fun outdoors. With such a routine, it becomes quite difficult to study. However, a lazy student can find a boring classmate who spends most of his/her time studying and have them do all the academic work in exchange for invitations to cool parties, interesting friends, and new video games. When giving presentations, set up friends to ask you all the questions you know the answers to. After working on essays and term papers, most tutors ask for presentations to be given in front of the entire class. Lazy students who know that they did not personally prepare their presentations can improve their performance during presentations by setting up friends before the presentation to ask those questions that they have already memorized the answers to. This plan always works as it makes the lazy student look like he/she knows what they are talking about and no one would know whether the origin of the questions and answers had been previously arranged. Build up your grades in the beginning semesters. In the beginning semesters of college, classes are much easier. Most of the harder classes are in the junior and senior years. To balance the total average, lazy students can study really hard during the beginning semesters. Most of the classes during that time are a breeze and getting straight A’s is quite easy with a little effort. This way, a lazy student can keep better grades during the beginning years and spend less time studying during the junior and senior years. Besides, by this time, a lazy student would have come up with better life hacks to get his studies done in less time. Use the self-reward incentive when studying. For lazy students who love to snack or watch television most of the time, studying can be a challenge. However, through the self-reward incentive, it becomes quite easy to study. A lazy student can mark paragraphs in the study notes and in textbooks. After reaching a mark, the student gets to snack, watch an episode of his/her favourite program, play one level of one of their favourite video games, or browse the internet to chat with a friend or two. This way, the student never gets bored or drowsy because they know that a reward is coming soon after. Use colours and attractive writing to make notes more interesting. Lazy students dislike taking notes. For the artistic and creative type of students, studying can be made interesting by using different coloured pens, coloured paper, or using ‘meme’ fonts when preparing and giving presentations. This approach enhances visual memory. It also makes note-taking and studying quite interesting. When a student gets caught up in the allure of their work, they end up learning a lot while simultaneously enjoying it. Use the beer-can trick to get better Wi-Fi signals in the dorm rooms. Students who live off campus with their friends often get bad Wi-Fi signals when in the dorm rooms. This means that if they want to access a stronger signal, they have to leave the rooms and go to class or to the library. This process is quite hectic for lazy students. The beer-can trick involves cutting open a beer can and strategically attaching it to the antenna of the router. This trick ensures that there is a clear and strong Wi-Fi signal even in the dorm rooms where the signal is mostly weak. If this trick is executed perfectly, lazy students wouldn’t have to leave the dorm room just to gain access to a clearer Wi-Fi signal. The beer-can trick and all the relevant instructions can be found in videos on the internet. Tape a power strip to the nightstand. Although it is not usually recommended, lazy students like to study in bed. With this behaviour, it becomes tiresome to get up and walk to electric outlets to plug in chargers, blenders, and other appliances. This can be solved by taping a power strip with four to five outlets to the nightstand. This way, all the electronic devices such as the phone, laptop, or tablet can be plugged in at all times reducing the need to keep leaving the bed to recharge them. Students who love snacking can also plug in a mini-refrigerator in their rooms and switch it on or off from the comfort of their beds. Use toilet rolls to sort and store cables. In this age, a single student can have tens of electronic and electric gadgets. All these gadgets come with detachable and sometimes multiple cables for power, charging, or inter-device connections. With such an amount of cable, it is easy for them to be entangled making it difficult to separate the cables when in a hurry or even damaging the cables altogether. Students who use boxes to store their cabl...
