INTRODUCTION
Every community is normally faced with a particular problem which tends to affect its members in a major way. Some of the societal problems have an effect on both the economic and social conditions of such economies. One of the most common problems is the constant use of some of the illegal drugs within a society which end up having economic and health effects on the users. In many cases, the law enforcing agencies tend to regulate the use and the dependence of the members on any addictive illegal substance such as bhang (Rudkin, 2003). The community presented in this project is specifically composed of those who suffer from mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar effects among others.
This study seeks to focus on the problem of high dependency of the members of this society on one of the illegal drugs referred to as K2. The usage of this drugs remain a menace to this society, and this has led to some deaths, negative health effects as well as lowered the levels of economic progress of this community. In essence, this study aims at coming up with the best solution to this problem by suggesting the best implementation plan to resolve the menace and also suggesting an appropriate budget for managing the menace (Minkler, 2005). The other area of interest to this study is the investigation of how the K2 drug has affected the major youthful generation of the community under study and the appropriate measures suitable to manage such extensive damage and spread of consequences. Therefore, the article intends to proceed with the preliminary study by coming up with the best solution to the problem of K2 as identified.
Overview of the situation in this community
The community presented in this study is one of the high industries communities where every member engages in a productive venture for purposes of building the economy. Business is one of the trade activities seen as vibrant and highly growing among the members. The inclusion of high-level technology has made the trade activities easier and more convenient for the community members. Further, the community comprises of individuals who are more focused on security issues. This has forced the community to come up with tight measures to help curb the growing threats of insecurity in the region. Many members have been involved in insecurity gangs and are therefore terrorizing the community on insecurity matters. Therefore, a lot of progress has been made by the community to try to identify the best measures to curb this insecurity.
Despite these immense objectives, the community has been faced with the challenge of the use, importation and consumption of an illegal drug substance referred to as a K2 drug. This is a form of spiced marijuana which has a lot of effect to the users. The highly addictive drug caused effects such as high blood pressure, hallucinations, confusion, and excessive nausea and increased sweating on the users. In other cases, this drug has economic effects of promoting a weak and less productive economy, causes unemployment and reduced urge to participate in economic activities. Besides, the K2 drug users are highly exposed to permanent brain damage. Therefore, there is an urgent need to curb and prevent the use of this illegal substance in this community and this forms the gist of the study.
The process is undergone to identify the problem
The initial steps which I took entailed the identification of the problem under study. The problem, in this case, entails the heavy use of the K2 drug which has a lot of negative ramification on the members of the community. Recently, there are many members with mental illness in this community, and this is associated with consumption and addiction to the K2 drug. The central focus of my study was one the specific people who have developed mental illness as well as those who use this substance.
To identify the problem in the community, I engaged in the extensive research of determining the negative impact of the use of K2. This entailed seeking reports and information from medical organizations which have equally engaged in research activities in the community. Besides, I engaged in a lot of interviews so as to get the opinion of the users of this drug and their opinion. The interviews have been the major process which I undertook in this community. This is because the users of this drug have different reasons behind their dependency and therefore the process of interview was beneficial towards getting information from the mouth of the very users of this drug (Rudkin, 2003). In many occasions I engaged a lot with the mentally ill who also use and are highly addictive on the drug to be able to know the sources of the drug, how they come into the community, the channels followed and also estimate the number of those who use the drugs.
Besides, I also engaged the experts within this community in many instances so as to get their expert opinion on the best ways of managing the menace and also discovering how to handle the problem presented. Dr. Tim Montgomery is one of the highly resourceful professionals within the community who has in-depth knowledge on the usage of the K2 substance and its effects in this immediate community. Therefore, I engaged in numerous interview activities with the professional so as to come up with the best information which I generated before performing any further process (McMurray, 2007).
After performing thorough interviews on both the professionals as well as the users of this drug, I grouped the sampled in segmented the community into two broad categories comprising of those who have acute effects out of the use of the drug and those with minor effects. The two segments were beneficial in identifying the period of addiction undergone by an individual from the time of first consumption to the point of further degeneration. My study looked at the trends of addiction in this community and also focused on the category of the community who are highly affected by the use of the K2 drug. The community mental health issue revolves around the high dependence on this illegal drug which has been highly adopted in the community and continues to pose negative repercussions to the members of the community.
After coming up with the information from the segments of the community, my research studied the negative impacts such as the cause of mental illness among the uses of the K2 drug. Specifically, I focused on the sampled members of the community who showed deteriorations after relying heavily on this drug. This includes the people who experienced hallucinations, bipolar disorders and those with mental illness. The research centered on investigating the other economic and social impact of K2 among members of this community such as lack of economic empowerment, promotion of unemployment among many other conditions (Haines et al., 2007). The focus was to fully come up with the best information on the problem so as to be able to generate the best solutions preferable to the mental illness.
The outline of plan of action
The problem in this community which is inhabited by people suffering from the mental problem is the high dependency and use of the K2 drug among the members. The research on the source, use, and effect of this drug reveals that it’s highly dangerous and highly present in this community. In essence, the solution to this challenge is to properly manage the distribution, use and also prevents the possible health effects that are caused by the use of the fabricated marijuana (Rudkin, 2003). The best way to do this is to implement a plan of action which focuses on the elimination of this drug and also rehabilitating the addicts.
The outline of the implementable action plan involves
- Arresting and eliminating the distributors of K2 within this community so as to cut shot the supply of the drug
- Rehabilitating the addicts of K2 drugs to help them restore their health
- Provision of employment opportunities to the suppliers as well as the addicts to help them recover from the business and the use of the drugs respectively.
The action plan to help address the problem
The problem presented in this research entails the immense use of the illegal substance referred to as K2 by members of the, particularly studied community. The drug has caused a lot of negative effects among them mental illnesses among the users. According to the research on this area, many people have suffered immensely out of the use of this drug, and this has lowered the economic growth and health degradation among the members of the community. The number of addicts has risen as well as the number of unemployed youths within this community. The following is the action plan and how best to implement the plan;
Action one: Eliminate all the supply channel of the illicit drug into the community
The embers within this community can use the K2 drug because they have easy access to the source. According to the research conducted, the drug enters this community through the conduits especially by powerful business people who wield a lot of power within the society (Roussos, S. T., & Fawcett, 2000). They established a lot of channels which have offered a way for the drug lords to move the substance into the community easily. Presently, there are many suppliers in the community who have established networks of distribution and supply of the K2 drug. This has however led to many people accessing and using the illicit substance. It’s usually a difficult task to eliminate cartels who are involved in an insidious activity such as the distribution and use of an illegal substance such as the K2 drug.
One of the ways of performing this task is to use the law enforcing agencies to arrest some of the cartels and eliminate their networks in the community. The...
