Impacts of the FIFA World Cup Tournament
MEEC field has continued to grow at a desirable rate across the world. Investors are increasingly injecting resources into the development of convention centers, stadiums, and arenas to attract events and conventions that are highly economically viable. Apart from private investors, government agencies are also lobbying hard to ensure that their country is granted the hosting rights to various events bound to generate a lot of income. The FIFA World Cup tournament is an example of an immensely impactful event, not only on the hosts but also on other fronts globally. Since the first tournament was held in 1930, host countries have recorded positive impacts and a boosted reputation globally in sports tourism. Other sectors have also recorded positive implications as a result of being involved in this tournament. Nonetheless, despite the positives, the tournament has also had its shortcomings. Critical Analysis
Socio-cultural Impacts
Socio-cultural impacts refer to how people's way of living, values, and customs are affected by the tournament. Host cities always stand a chance to acquaint themselves with diverse cultures from the visiting fans, and this acts as an avenue for the hosts to showcase their culture to the world. The visitors are also exposed to a new culture, which boosts appreciation and the host city's reputation on the global platform. This platform further enhances the appreciation of the hosts' social life.

By then, the country was embroiled in a civil war. The war had led to the deaths of 4,000 people and over 1 million displacements. However, upon qualification, the players used that celebratory moment to rally for peace in Ivory Coast. This call was heeded as there was a ceasefire, and the warring factions signed a peace accord a year later. These developments can be credited to the world cup tournament since it's that qualifying match that provided a platform for the players to call for unity in Ivory Coast.
Some social laws that are deemed oppressive have also been withdrawn, courtesy of the world cup tournament. For example, during the 2018 finals in Russia, Iran withdrew its law that banned women from attending matches in stadiums. For the first time in its history, the state allowed women into Azadi Stadium to watch the live broadcast between the national team and Spain (Malekian, 2019). Thus, the tournament helped address a social issue that had been a topic of dispute between activists and the government for quite a long time. Even though the government lifted
