Introduction
Asthma is a hypersensitivity condition linked to allergic reactions. The situation is associated with spasm attacks in the lung's bronchi. When one is asthmatic, they always encounter breathing difficulty because when the airways pass through the lungs, and because of tightening of the muscles around the airways makes it narrow (Hargreaves & Nair 2009). Asthma is a minor condition as it can be regarded by some people, but the major condition requires more attention. If not well monitored, it is a life-threatening condition that affects normal body functioning. It is an important health concern and economic implication. Asthma causes suffering and premature deaths among individuals. Its spread has been increasing over years. For instance, in 2008, the diagnosis done in the USA found approximately 24.7 million people visiting the emergency rooms. In 2016, a total of 1.7 million asthmatic people were found to visit the emergency room. From 2013 to 2018, asthma cost was about $81 billion yearly. This became a major health concern to be addressed by the World Health Organization.
The rates of asthma in Brooklyn are a bit higher when compared to other New York Cities (Garrett et al 2010). This is due to the fact that most of the Brooklyn locality are associated with high rate of poverty due to low income, air pollution, and poor as well as inadequate housing.
