INTRODUCTION
Greece, historically known as the Hellenic Republic, is a country with a continuous cultural heritage with a diverse history that has a significant influence in its contemporary world in various aspects including socio-cultural issues, economic issues, legal, and political issues. The country has a strategic location in Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia making it central to the economic byroads of its neighbours. With its over 1400 islands, eighty percent of Greece is covered with mountains that have influenced the country’s economic, social, and political aspects. Since the economic crisis that hit the country in the last decades, Greece attained an impressive trend comparable to the rest of Europe. The paper discusses political, legal, social, and economic issues facing Greece. The country’s economy was adversely affected by the economic crisis shrinking it to below 26 percent per capita. However, after bailouts, the country’s economy is gaining momentum. Despite their lack of respect to the rule of law which gives the country another setback in its modern coexistence, the Greeks have a diverse and interesting culture that brings people together with pride and a feeling of ethnic belonging. The paper will first analyse the economic aspect of the country before discussing its socio-cultural issues, and finally the country’s legal and political issues.
