Rise of the Robots
Book Review
Rise of the robots has been appreciated as one of the essential readings especially for the young readers to understand the factors that accelerate technology in our societies and what technology portends for the economy of people in the society (Ford, 2015). Further, the book has been lauded as one of the essential reading materials for the children as well as to the entire society particularly in the field of technology. Martin Ford, the authors of the book has identified future in technology, and that is why he has undertaken to write on technology and its impacts on the society. The authors opine that technology has facilitated the creation of wealth in our societies while at the same time obliterating the demand for work, courtesy of the robots. He has identified some of the work places and industries that have embraced this idea of robots and related technologies (Ford, 2015). Some of the sites that the author cites are the fasting moving food processing foods.
It is Martin Ford’s opinion that at this age of artificial intelligence, the employment opportunities will drift to obsolescence (Ford, 2015). Having read his work, I am of the opinion that Martin Ford’s work is just a prognosis and one that its ranting rents a latter day. It is indeed true that Ford is a true technology entrepreneur; his work specifically The Rise of the Robots criticizes the Light in the Tunnel. Ford’s contention is that the modern technology is acutely different from the earlier technology, something that I totally disagree. My view is that today’s displacement of technology is quite similar to that of the industrial revolution especially one that affected the agriculture and industry (Ford, 2015).
