Abstract
The general population has been taught that heterosexuality is the most significant sexual orientation. Same-sex couples can now legally tie the knot in the nation's 50 states for the first time in American history. The act of getting married does not include all of the benefits of marriage. Even if it is already legal to wed someone of the same gender, this does not always indicate that people's attitudes will change. Abuse in one particular setting may be detrimental to one's mental health. Fair treatment of customers is a sensible corporate move, but the author warns that it might result in disputes. Those in the human services industry need to have a solid understanding of the importance of cultural sensitivity. Everyone benefits when medical professionals are fluent in a variety of languages and have a deep understanding of other cultures. People can improve their cultural competence by participating in workshops, seminars, and other training sessions emphasizing diversity.

Introduction
Heterosexuals frequently use the phrase "sexual orientation" to describe people who are attracted to the same sex both physically and mentally.
