1 Introduction
* Currently, around one third of the global population are considered smokers both direct and indirectly. Estimates indicates that by 2025 at least 10 million deaths will be as a result of cigarette smoking (Özlü & Bülbül, 2005).
* Cigarette smoking can lead to lung cancer, ulcers in the digestive system, and bone disorders among other illnesses.
* I have seen family member, friends, schoolmates and many close people who start smoking cigarette as a joke. They later became addicts and developed diseases that have left them with permanent impairments and others have died due to the same. For this reason pay close attention to what I am about to share with you this day.
* This moment I am going to share with you the harmful effects of smoking cigarette that has the highest potential to cause death or permanent impairment. The first one will be cancer of the lungs, the ulcers in the digestive tract, and the last one will be bone disorders.
The most threatening effect of smoking cigarette is the development of lung cancer.
II. Body
* Main point #1: smoking cigarette causes lung cancer.
1 Statistics from research have been linked to 90 % and 79 % causes lung cancer in male and female person respectively (Özlü, & Bülbül, 2005).
* At least 90% of lung cancer deaths are associated with tobacco smoking Özlü, & Bülbül, 2005.
* Smoker of cigarettes are more than twice at risk for developing lung cancer as the non-smokers.
2 The indirect smoking from environmental exposure have been linked to pulmonary carcinoma Özlü, & Bülbül, 2005.
* Patient who continue to smoke while undergoing treatment for cancer experience difficulties recovering from the condition.
* To control the risk of pulmonary carcinoma and improve the quality of life among the cancer patients, it is vital to quit smoking cigarette.
* Avoiding cigarette smoking and stopping for the smokers is fundamental in controlling the lung cancer and related complications.
Additionally, smokers are at risk of developing ulcers in their digestive tracts.
* Main point #2: smoking cigarettes causes digestive tract ulcers.
1 The development, progress, and recurrence of peptic ulcer disease have been associated with cigarette smoking behavior (Najm, 2011).
* The smoking of cigarette have been associated with poor digestive acids secretion.
* It disrupts the secretion of the bicarbonate products generated from the pancreases
* Smoking cigarette affects the production and flow of mucosal blood.
* The duodenum remains exposed to the harsh secretions that leads to the development of peptic ulcers.
2 Cessation of smoking can improve the balance of secretions along the digestive system.
* The smokers experience immediate relief from the experiences when having peptic ulcer condition, by stopping their smoking habit.
Finally, cigarette smoking can lead to ulcers in the digestive system
* Main point #3: Smoking of cigarette leads to bone disorders.
