Qantas Airways limited is an Australian company that is based out of the country. The company is currently considered as the one of the largest airline in the region. This has been as a result of their dominance in the Australian domestic market, thus controlling over 65% of the market share and 18% of both the inbound and outbound travelling in the country. Qantas boasts of an extensive transportation network operating in Australia and other 22 nations in major destinations across the globe. In addition, the Qantas Airways limited offers its customers scheduled passenger and freight transport services. This has been enabled by employing a amalgamation of its own fleet and codeshare (Oum, Park, & Zhang, 1996, p. 190) provisions with other companies thus enabling them serves a total of 260 destinations.
Since its inception, Qantas has played key role in the development of the country’s economy. Immediately after the Australian government sold its domestic carrier thus, thus leading to the privatization of the airline the growth and development of the airline had started a new life. The privatization of the airline saw it merge with British airways with who managed to get 25% stake in the business. The larger stake was distributed to the Australian republic who had a major share of 55% thus becoming the majority shareholder. It is estimated that the airline operate more than 308 aircraft thus employing more than 33,000 both permanent and part-time employees in all their operation centers across the world. This enables the company to operate more than 450,000 flights, thus transporting more than 48 million customers and more than 600,000 tons of cargo each year.
