Kenya is an East African country. Her neighbors are Somalia at the East of Kenya, Ethiopia at the North of Kenya, Sudan at North East of Kenya, Uganda at the West of Kenya and Tanzania at the South of Kenya. Kenya is sited on a land area of 569,140 km2 while on the other hand, her water area totals up to 11,227km2. According to the nation’s census records, Kenya has a population of 46,790,758 people. Kenya is the Presidential Republic currently led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The country attained her independence in 1964. Since then till date, Kenya has made several political, social and economic reforms in her structures. These significant reforms have led to considerable economic growth in the country. Kenya is an economy that majorly depends on agriculture. Its primary exports are agricultural products such as flowers, tea, and coffee. This paper seeks to analyze Kenya's economy in relation to its GDP, monetary system and performance in the external sector.
