Should Guns Be Prohibited?
Gun ownership and possession in the modern society follow the tradition in the United States that guarantee independence and self-security. The arms control, on the other hand, prefer different reasons and measures of gun ownership. The control of gun ownership may be forced to devise other methods of crime control rather than the confiscating process as proposed by the Congress. The move would result in security related problems in the society. The government should, however, make the access to guns and ammunitions less accessible and enforcement of the law for the public safety. The blame may fall on the gun contrary to the society that encourages the use of the weapon.
According to statistics, the rise in possession of guns makes it difficult to tackle the security globally. The increasing number of crimes reported involves the use of guns hence endangering the society. Gun violence claims more lives in the community due to the uncontrolled measures in the legal system regarding the possession guns. The law enforcers are the expected group of citizens that are scheduled to possess guns due to the reasons of maintaining public order (Record, Katherine, and Lawrence, 31). The increased possession of guns makes the mandate of the law enforcers difficult due to the threats associated with tackling and arresting armed criminals.
The concern on the rising number of guns about the armed criminal lead to insecurity within the local residence. The growth of gun possession risks the lives of citizens on the streets making due to the increased level of uncertainty. The debate on whether to equip the citizens with more guns for protection or reduce the possession of guns remains. The danger in the streets results to the reasons on who possess the guns. The possession of guns by criminals increases the instances of vulnerability while the increased ownership by the policing officers ensures protection. The main issue remains that the reduction of guns in the market reduces the murder cases in the streets providing security for the citizens.
According to Smith, the difference between gun possession, however, determines the impact of gun ownership in the society. The gun distribution in the streets and that in the house represent different use and motives. The gun in the house is expected to ensure security, and that on the street has the possibility of use in committing a crime. The reasons for gun ownership vary from hunting, personal protection to illegal means such as robbing and protection for the wrong reasons (Smith, 14). Guns ownership also require the training in the use and for the better grounds for the use. A trained government official may prefer the utilization of a gun in a formal duty rather than the criminals who prefer to use it on the streets.
The government should ensure the law and enforcement policies on the gun ownership requirements on the training and license to the weapon users are observed to avoid the incidences of the illegal use of the firearms. The gun distribution responsibility by the government require the appropriate measures in maintaining law and order especially in the ownership of guns. Robust and strict gun ownership regulations ensure the management of the weapon condition in the society hence the determining factor of the illegal gun ownership.
Lawmakers may skip some concerns in making the decisions on the firearms acts hence rendering the society a dangerous environment for human coexistence in different ways. The consideration of the intentions of gun use after the possession is never considered in the case of allowing the possession of weapons section in the law. The lawmakers need to make strict legislation that define clearly the consequences of using guns for unintended reasons to avoid the incidences of influencing the use of home protection guns entrance into the streets. The elimination of gun violence and the street guns would only be regulated by the legislation of strict laws against the possession of unlicensed weapons.
The culture influence on the ownership of guns may result to hard methods of controlling the possession of guns in the society. The tradition of the Americans that allows every home to own a gun, however, does not explain the consequences of the wrong use of the firearm. Despite the observation and maintenance of culture, human safety should serve as the priority in the debate concerning possession of firearms. The contradictions in the gun control policies significantly affect the marginalized communities due to the rising number of criminal activities. The political contribution in the gun ban additionally affects the process due to the different agendas of the political affiliation (McGinty, et al., 239). The biased lawmakers end up with the wrong reasons of making the gun control policies that are for a particular group of people hence affecting the society in general.
The individual rights to gun ownership require an independent candidate with the concerns of the society in mind, less the politicians in making the decisions of the arms control policies. The process requires the intervention of the community in examining the rights to own a gun depending on the life threatening cases that may need the use of guns for protection. Private citizens are involved in the cases where protection of life is quite significant based on the threats. However, equipping the citizens should not be the priority rather the security forces should ensure fewer guns on the streets (Webster, Vernick, and Bulzacchelli, 780).
Interventions on safety and protection matters concerning the gun control affect the safety stand in different dimensions. The control of the gun supply in the streets reduces the murder cases ensuring more protection. However, the conservative political measures prefer equipping the selected a few with guns for protection at the expense of the entire society. Political differences in the ideologies concerning the security of the majority in the comm...
