Inequality in Education in Pakistan
Introduction
Inequality is the difference in the distribution of opportunities, material, and immaterial goods. Globally, Pakistan's education is one of the worst-performing education systems. It has a high level of inequality, from primary to secondary schools. Human capital is one of the prerequisites for economic growth in a country. It is also a measure of development in society. Human capital is improved through education. Most of the developed societies have the highest population of educated people. Hence, their human capital is higher. In line with this, education increases opportunities for people to participate in the labor market. Subsequently, education becomes a tool for poverty reduction. Since many people will be employed, income inequalities will be low. This implies that inequalities in education will lead to income inequalities. Importantly, education does not only improve human capital but also creates a civilized society. It increases the consciousness of people, making them more responsible citizens. This leads to the creation of an atmosphere of cooperation and trust in society. Consequently, the welfare of society or people improves. Pakistan has a poor quality education and most unequal education system. This is one of the causes of income inequality and poverty in Pakistan. Pakistan's education is characterized by a lack of uniformity, outdated curricula, high school dropout, poor supervisory standards, lack of quality teachers, and corruption. Certainly, this ineffective education system is the cause of social instability, incessant sectarian violence, expanding terrorism, economic degeneration, and political turmoil in Pakistan. In this regard, the largest population of Pakistanis are unemployed. The inequality in education in Pakistan manifests in Geography, gender, education system, income level, and feudalism. In this regard, the government should implement a uniform curriculum education system. This system will end the inequality in education in the country since it will disband the different mediums of education ion the country. More so, it will reduce the differences in private and public schools. Certainly, this will improve the education standards of this country.
