Schools shouldn’t punish the Students for what they post in the Social Media
It is wrong to always have negative perception of what most students post in the social media. Lots of criticisms have been going round infringing social media use by the students to ridicule their comrades and school administrators. A scholarly article by the (Times) stipulated that several students have been suing their principals for speech violation on what they posted in Twitter. The social media should be viewed as one of the information sharing medium amongst the students. The social media should be figured as a platform for free speech and students should not be punished when enjoying their freedom of speech. Morever, freedom of speech should not be viewed as a distaction to the superb school’s learning environment.
Regardless of what student post in the social media, the school administators should disregard the posts for any disciiplinary measures and consider the social media as a freezone for students to share their ideas on constructive learning agendas. The schools should consider enacting the policies discovered to curb cases of cyber bulling and make the social media as an educational background for both students and the community at large (Williamson 2012). The school administators should take an initiative of educating the students on the responsible use of the social media to benefit the community and for learning purposes rather than for harassmnet or other negative media usage.
The schools should disccover the opportunities that help the students on media usage and strategize ways on how the students will benefit for the social media use.
