These include things like losing our loved ones always brings back memories that lapse to trauma.

Introduction
Memory in psychology is the capability of the self to file, retain, and with time reclaim information. In the event, a person experiences trauma, be it real or emotional, the tragedy affects their memory in various aspects. Research findings show that the contextual factors in this case the community affects memory and that the information acquired in a particular context is retrieved most salutary when the retrieval takes place in the same environment (Erikson 472). With the knowledge of the relationship between trauma, memory and community, is there any connection between the three? Based on the writings in Brother by Chariandy is it true that the three shares connection? Using Chariandy’s book Brother, this paper seeks to explore and determine if there is a connection between trauma, memory and community.
Memory plays a significant purpose in Chariandy’s presentation, Soucouyant concerning a parent who experiences dementia. The symptoms manifested by Michael’s mother are precisely those of dementia or may be caused by blurring due to the affliction from the unforgotten loss of her eldest son Francis. Looking at his frail and confused mother today, the memory of his mother as a strict, fierce mother with an unstoppable spirit is relayed. Today she is broken and for the past decade, Michael tells of how he has tried to avoid all the discomforting conversations about the past with his mother. As the novel advances, a beautiful sibling relationship is narrated with the tenderness that the untimely demise of Francis is overwhelming on arrival (Bucknor 70). The inevitability of this fateful moment is built as every chapter unfolds with intense
