Memory in psychology is the capability of the self to file, retain, and with time reclaim information. In the event, a person experiences trauma, be it real or emotional, the tragedy affects their memory in various aspects. Memory plays a significant purpose in Chariandy’s presentation, Soucouyant concerning a parent who experiences dementia. The symptoms manifested by Michael’s mother are precisely those of dementia or may be caused by blurring due to the affliction from the unforgotten loss of her eldest son Francis. Looking at his frail and confused mother today, the memory of his mother as a strict, fierce mother with an unstoppable spirit is relayed.
