The media has played a critical role in the representation of various socio-political and economic ideologies in the contemporary society. Since the media is the voice of the masses, it can shape the perception of a particular popular ideology and culture. The American cinema, for example, has been at the fore-front of promoting the fundamental American values. Hollywood has also promoted the American cultural imperialism. The cultural and economic power of the United States has been manifested through the increasing popularity of the films in the international market. One of the American films that have brought a tremendous impact on the global market is Mission Impossible. Since the release of the first franchise in the 2003, the film has received a cult following due to its portrayal of important American values. In the international market, IP Man; a Hong Kong martial arts films has changed the perception of non-American cinema through the production of a film that depicts the Chinese culture and values.
