Poverty and Health
Poverty and health are directly related to one another, and the former is a significant cause of poor health since people with financial constraints may be unable to access medical facilities. Being poor mostly leads to improper sanitation and a lack of clean water in some regions, which directly brings about health issues as infectious diseases and low immunity. The increased usage of finances, therefore, comes in when one visits health facilities, purchases medicine, and other caregiving costs that are affiliated to patients. Ideally, poverty affects health conditions at each stage in life (Price et al., 2). Poverty also makes an economy degrade because the people in that environment are unproductive due to illnesses, and schooling in such conditions becomes impossible, hence the lack of an experienced workforce to propel an economy.
Cultural factors are also responsible for poverty and poor health in that if one has a particular cultural belief, they may not accept progress in terms of advanced technology. Such people may not believe in health experts and other professionals who are out to impart education and facilitate knowledge acquisition. This situation leads to a lack of information, redundancy, and poverty as a long term consequence. However, the same can be eliminated by ensuring that there is enough effort to educate people on how to stay healthy (Price et al., 3). Other cultures also hinder the development and empowerment of a specific gender, which in turn creates inequality, conflicts, and the inability to access basic needs. Therefore, some cultural beliefs are retrogressive, and they facilitate the inability to grow economically or accessing quality healthcare.
