Concepts of Karl Marx Theory
Karl Marx developed theories on the basis of historical materialism. Marxist theory brings out key aspects of human behaviour where there is need for the production of goods and services for survival (Marx and Engels 487). The belief of Marxism that capitalism is an economic system and a political system is based on this. Therefore, through this notion, Karl Marx developed an argument that the descriptions of societies can be made depending on their mode of production. The economic system is seen by Marxists are determining laws, the society’s role and the government type in daily life (Marx and Engels 487). According to Karl Marx, there are certain key concepts that diametrically oppose capitalism where the society has the mentality of “them and us”. There is a dialectic approach to life in Marxism where everything must have two sides (Marx 152).
There is a belief of Marxism that capitalism thrives on exploiting the working class. This is evident where the working class are placed on one side and the oppressed on another. According to Marx, the property owners (bourgeoisie) in a capitalist society rate their personal worth with the value of exchange and thus leading to exploitation of workers as they are paid as little as possible (Marx and Engels 487).
According to Marxism belief, there was a contradiction between the nature of humans and the way that we are obliged to work in a society of capitalists (Marx 153). This is the notion of capitalism where survival is the vital determinant for a worker.
