Introduction
The power of visual argument, “Black males have traditionally been the victims of police violence and have been subjected to a discriminatory court system. What's more disturbing is that most of the offenders remain uncharged despite clear evidence and charges made by victims' relatives and associates. The author dives deeper to explain that black boys are at a higher risk of falling victim compared to men. From arrest through sentencing, black youths suffer harsh treatment, which increases their resentment of those charged with safeguarding and executing the law. Black males experience significantly more harassment, searches, arrests, and convictions than their white colleagues. With today's discrepancies, it is clear that harsh on crime and mass imprisonment policies have disproportionately affected African-Americans. Even if the gap between black and white imprisonment rates has shrunk in recent years, there is still a large one. Compared to their demographic size, black individuals in the United States are overrepresented in the criminal justice system.
While black males make up 13% of the male united states population, they account for 35% of all men serving a sentence of more than one year in state or federal prison. On the other hand, one out of every six Latino males and one out of every seventeen white men born in 2001 may expect to be jailed throughout their lives. Black inmates in penetetiary have a recidivism rate that is 5.1 times higher than that of white inmates. In comparison to Latinas and white women, one in 18 African Americans born in 2001 will be jailed at some point in her life.
Black women account for 44% of those jailed in the United States, although making up 13% of
