Methodology Social Sciences Research Paper Coursework (Research Paper Sample)

Instructions:

Research paper that requires participants, measurement scale, statistics, index, procedure of experiment, data analysis, research design, explanation of how data is being collected, ethical principals need to be included as well.
Instructions listed below:
Methodology:
What kind of research is it and why?
Restate the hypothesis or research questions
Population and Subjects
Who will be the participants for your study?
How will they be sampled?
Measurement
Restate your variables, identify the independent and dependent variable
Define each variable specifically (operationalize)
Identify the level of measurement for the variable
Explain how data will be collected
Describe the survey used and steps in development (copy of survey in appendix)
Describe any index or scale to be used
Describe your procedures (step-by-step)
Describe the expected data analyzed (descriptive and any inferential)
Identify any ethical issues and use of IRB
Your individual assignment is as follows (narrative form like you were writing a paper):
Paragraph 1: research design. In this paragraph REPEAT the purpose statement from the group assignment. Then tell what kind of research (this should be contained in the purpose statement) and why it is that kind of research. Restate the research question and variable name (all from the group assignment)
Paragraph 2: Population and Subjects. In this paragraph state who your population is (UCF students). Describe your sample - its the professor's class right? What is the sample size? (Assume he has 50 students.) What kind of sample is it?
Paragraph(s) 3 (4-5) Measurement - we spent quite a bit of time discussing this sub-section. Let's break it into three paragraphs;
#1: Restate your variable, Define the variable specifically (operationalize), how will it be measured? Identify the level of measurement for the variable
#2: Explain how data will be collected, Describe the survey used and how you developed it
#3: Describe any index or scale to be used and the scoring method
Describe your procedures (step-by-step): not required
Describe the expected data analyzed: not required
Identify any ethical issues and use of IRB: Discuss the three principles of ethics and how they will not be an issue in this study.
So you will have completed a portion of the Methodology section: the research design paragraph, the population and sampling paragraph, the measurement section, and the ethic section. Use the information in the group assignment as the basis for this assignment - be consistent with the group assignment - variable names, purpose statement, etc.
Upload as a word document. The first thing I should see is a heading Methodology. Use sub-headings for each section your are writing about.
This will not be graded before you take the exam.

When students starts the higher education studies, there are a number of resources that should be availed in order for them to have productive students. One of the resources is peer coaching. Peer coaches are the students who have successively completed their coursework work. Peer coaches assess and provide tips to incoming students to augment their success and reduce the number of dropouts. This study aims at collecting feedback from students who have an access to a peer coach, understand the students’ level of satisfaction with the coach and also seek to find if there is any correlation between having a student coach and dropping out. This is a descriptive study because it is an observational study that gives an illustration of what the collected data is or what it will show. Descriptive statistics like percentages, mean, standard deviation (SD), and median will be used to describe level of satisfaction in the study subjects. The survey questionnaire has five questions attempt to find the student’s feedback on coaches’ accessibility, reliability, effectiveness, timeliness and helpfulness. These feedbacks will form the basis upon which dependent variable will be analyzed. The dependent variable for this study will be the student’s satisfaction.
Population and Subjects
Study participants for this study will sampled from the new students at University of Central Florida. They will be sampled from the professor’s class which has a total number of 50 students. Sample size will be calculated using the sample size formula for estimation of a finite population (Grande).
