Summary
Plastic's many uses and widespread availability have made it an integral element of modern life. The degradation of solid waste is a major issue that has had negative consequences for people, animals, plants, and the environment. The decomposition of plastics and other components of solid waste may be accomplished in several ways, but microbial degradation is the most cost-effective and least harmful to the environment. The proposed study investigates the feasibility of employing microorganisms to convert solid waste into biodegradable polymers. In this study, we will determine which microorganisms are most efficient in decomposing solid waste and converting them to bioplastics and the condition favorable for the microbes to work efficiently on a large scale. As solid waste pollution becomes an increasingly serious issue, this research will help pave the way for creating long-term, environmentally beneficial solutions.
Rationale/ Background
Greenhouse gas emissions, ozone depletion, and synthetic and non-degradable chemicals created by industry in the form of fertilizers, insecticides, plastics, polymers, etc., are major concerns for environmentalists worldwide. Microbes, including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, bacteriophages, and even nematodes, play an important role in maintaining ecological balance and increasing the quality of
