Stamford CT Project - marketing (Term Paper Sample)

Instructions:
Company Johnson and Johnson and Product Multivitamins Instructions The Stamford Connecticut Project: You are to assume you will be marketing the product or service( Multivitamins) you have worked with throughout the past weeks to consumers or businesses in the Stamford Connecticut marketplace. Your campaign will \'roll out\' during the first week of the month. What could happen when you implement your plan? Sometimes reality matches your planning and projections, and this makes you happy. Other times it doesn't match. Why do consumers or businesses in your targeted market segments respond to your offer? Why do they not? What influences their decision? Some factors are more obvious than others. Your offer; or perhaps the headline in your communication piece is not appealing; or maybe people don't relate to the imagery and words on your package. These are internal factors. You should test their effectiveness before you implement your campaign. We ARE NOT considering these issues for this assignment. For the purpose of this assignment, we are more interested in marketplace issues and events that we cannot easily predict in advance, yet they can have a significant impact on your targeted market segment members, and therefore, the success of your plan. Perhaps you are introducing a new cereal bar to the marketplace. Perhaps your timing coincides with another major competitor's introduction of their version of the same product. Did this happen in Stamford Connecticut this week? Perhaps a local “major employer” downsized and 1,500 people in the marketplace lost their jobs during the same week when you introduced your product. Did this happen in Stamford Connecticut this week? Perhaps there is a heated school board election where voting coincides with your campaign and the Moms of primary school children you targeted won't pay attention to your effort. Did this happen in Stamford Connecticut this week? You are being asked to find out what happened in Stamford Connecticut recently that can have an impact on the success of your campaign. You should research all of the influences that can impact the success of your plan. You will be expected to research everything you can about Stamford Connecticut to learn what is happening there on every level – from economic, to community, to the jobs situation, to local issues and the mood of the community – everything you can uncover that could influence whether the people or businesses will purchase your product or service at this time. You are expected to submit a paper in which you document what you learned about what is happening in Stamford Connecticut now that could impact your campaign. Then connect what you learned to your targeted market segment members and explain how and why what you learned could have an impact on their response to your Marketing effort. . Stamford CT Project – Marketing Student’s Name Institution Introduction This analysis is centered on Stamford CT market place and events that have significant effects on the intended marketing campaign success. Stamford CT market place and events are influence by external and internal factors, which affect Johnson & Johnson Company marketing campaign performance, especially in gaining ground in that market niche. In this regard, marketers are expected to understand the current trends in the market as well as with the consumers and should seek to maintain a good rapport with them. It is evident that consumers are currently in a better position of getting information about multivitamins products. Therefore, they are able to selectively buy multivitamins in accordance with the offers on the table and their wants. For competitors to catch up with their target customers and potential clients in a particular niche, Johnson & Johnson Company has to compete for almost all the resources it requires for production of the products since it majorly share their distribution lines and consumers (Applegate & Johnsen, 2007). Analysis of Events happening in Stamford CT and Multivitamins Marketing Campaigns Ogre Saturday at Stamford CT would be of significant influence of the multivitamins products since people from diverse background would be brought together and enjoy the “All School Musical” event. Such shows would attract many fans of the ogre. It is evident that about 1,600 tickets had been sold, and this implied that more people were willing to attend. Even though, this social event would appear as a chance of showing each individual favorite, it provided a better opportunity to market and campaign the multivitamins products. A good marketing platform is one that pulls many people together, and the ogre Saturday show proved to be a good opportunity for Johnson & Johnson Company to market its products. During this occasion, the company would seize the opportunity to offer free multivitamin samples. Fliers would be given to the attendants, about the multivitamin products. Postures could be put at strategic places, as a way of letting people know the multivitamin products of the company. Moreover, this is a better chance for the company to utilize in campaigning for its products. Two recent appoints made by Mayor David Martin to his office are going to be of significant benefit to Stamford, especially in planning, finance management and administration. This is because the chosen individuals are of sound management, administration, wealth of experience and competency. The appointment will be of utmost importance to Stamford city, which is likely to experience good budgeting and management, owing to the appointment of Michael Pollard to the finance position, Martin’s cabinet. Several people tend to become residents of Stamford owing to the prospects of economic stability, especially from the stable government appointments and well-structured administrations. Johnson & Johnson Company would explore this market because there is likely to be high demand for multivitamins because of high population attracted to reside in this area and a stable or growing economy. Stamford is the third largest Connecticut city, with a population of about 100, 000 people. The other factor that may lead to slow reception of multivitamins campaign in Stamford CT is the property taxes, which has ranked it second highest after New Jersey (“Daily Voice”, 2013). Such poor ranking would demotivate Johnson & Johnson Company since it would spend more money in paying taxes on vehicles to promote the sales of its products, than what it actually realize as its revenue earnings. In addition, when people living in Stamford spend a lot of money on property taxes, there will be less disposable income left to spend on buying the multivitamins (“Daily Voice”, 2013). Such would negatively affect the sale of multivitamins in the region. However, campaign strategies to promote the sale of multivitamins can be enhanced when the government introduces tax cuts on property taxes and health promoting products, such as multivitamins. Stamford Connecticut has recovered 48.6% of the jobs, which were lost to economic slowdown between March 2008 and February 2010 (“The Daily Voice”, 2013 b). The unemployment rate has since then reduced, and more jobs have been recovered since February 2010 (“The Daily Voice”, 2013 b). This implies that more people in Stamford are currently in gainful employment. The unemployment rate has since then reduced and people have more disposable income to spend. In this regard, the per capita income of each individual has increased, thus more income is available to be spent on purchasing multivitamins. Purchasing power or demand of individuals increase as the level of income rises. On the contrary, the individuals have little to spend when their income levels are very low. It is also necessary to note that as the income levels increase, individuals are prone to lifestyle disorders such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes, among others, which are caused by poor eating habits. When people have a lot of money to dispose, they tend to eat a lot, enjoy more passive leisure and work less. This implies that less mental and physical strength are engaged in productive exercise. Sometimes, individuals tend to eat a lot of junk, fatty foods and drink a lot of alcohol, thus leading to obese and other lifestyle health challenges. Therefore, the reduction of unemployment rate in Stamford implies more income to spend and more chances of health challenges, especially among the employed, and this can be managed through taking multivitamins, thus Johnson & Johnson Company will ultimately find a good market here to campaign for its multivitamins. Stormy weather conditions in winter will not only cause commuting problems, but also they would like to expose people around Stamford to various illness. For instance, flu cases would be rampant during such winter conditions. Such ill-health conditions would make it possible for the company to advance its marketing campaigns for the multivitamins products. Johnson & Johnson Company would advise people to take multivitamins as a way of helping them cope with cold winter challenges (“The Daily Voice”, 2013 a). This would lure many people to buy the products and become the company’s customers. Besides, individuals who would view this as a noble idea, would also make promise to buy multivitamins products for preventing purposes, especially to guard them against harsh weather conditions experienced in winters (“The Daily Voice”, 2013 a). Therefore, multivitamins would helping in boosting immunity of the people who are currently living in Stamford Connecticut. According to Stamford CT Entertainment and Guide, selling of the multivitamins in the market ranges from children to adults (“Stamford CT Entertainment and Guide”, 2013). This target group of consumers can be reached through television adverts. The company can...
