According to the Roman Catholic Church members, the crucifixion cross with an image of Jesus Christ attached on it symbolizes the sacrifice the Lamb of God went through for the sake of our sins. Jesus died for our sins and therefore this symbol helps them to memories the son of Gods Death. However, they also use the crucifix of Jesus to follow an ancient Roman Catholic tradition that honours the sacrifices of the lamb. The crucifix also displays the love God has for humanity for him to send his only son to come and dies for our sins.
The Roman Catholics also use the crucifix because it was also proclaimed by Paul the apostle "We proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles" (1 Corinthians 1:23). Furthermore, the crucifix also reminds them of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that he rouses from the land of the dead. According to St Augustine, the death of Jesus Christ should not be a shame for humanity instead should be our pillar and hope in Christ.
