Gender and sexual development of girls.
Gender and sexual developement is a realm of psychology that is gaining momentum because of its role in social and cultural environment. It is common to hear the objectification of the females in the media and in adverts. For instance, one can hear of "sexy girl" "hot tot’ "Sexy mama" "eye candy" "Hottie" among other pseudonyms used to describe the ideal woman (Eileen, Rebecca, & Lamb, 2015). There is ongoing research on the negative effects of sexualization on the development of girls and rather femininity in the society (Eileen, Rebecca, & Lamb, 2015). This might be the cause of increased sexual abuse cases and the moral decorum in the society as sexuality is strongly engendered in the mind of young girls.

Studies indicate that about 85 percent of magazines intended for adults sexualized girls more. The impact will be for the children between 7-10 years who are at active learning age (Zurbriggen, 2006). For instance, this class of girls watch commercials intended to enlighten them on what "powerful girls" look like that has lead to increased objectification. Girls will buy of try and acquire girlie products that will make them look sexy of look like some celebrity. Psychologists explain this as self-objectification whereby the young girls look at themselves as objects of desire to others. This explains the increased sexual abuse cases and prostitution in the society (Ward, 2004).
Numerous studies have indicated the existence of self-objectification more in girls than boys at adolescence of preadolescent stages of development. This has a number of consequences for the girls in...
