Redefining Gender-based Discrimination of Women in India
Introduction
Gender-based discrimination is widespread in Indian. Women face severe inequalities and discrimination in numerous areas such as education, employment, and social life. Although the Indian government has been at the forefront of promoting equal rights, Indian women still face various forms of gender discrimination. For example, Indian women face sexual harassment, low pay, limited education access, dowry-related violence, and retrogressive dressing codes. The high prevalence of gender discrimination has undermined the relationship between women and Indian society. The Indian society is a patriarchal system that emphasizes male children instead of female children. The existing traditional cultural beliefs and social norms have promoted the ideology of son preference. Society values men who are perceived to be superior to women in society. The high prevalence of gender-based discrimination in India has played an essential role in undermining women's role, freedom, and value in Indian society.
