In particular, assistant director probation Mr. Siambe for issuing me a chance to partake my field practicum at Kisauni probation station. The secretary’s effort during the period of securing a chance for my practicum cannot go unmentioned for she was there to give me directives which was an initial step to my field practicum success. In the same breath, I would wish to thank the probation office kisauni under the able leadership of Mrs. Kimoko, the deputy Mrs. Nyong’a, Mr. Asande and the entire staff for their extremely invaluable support and facilitation. It was due to their support and their acceptance that I felt to be part of them and trained for all this period and enjoyed being part of their organization while enjoying the training they diligently offered. Sincere appreciation is extended to the department of Social sciences for having issued me the opportunity for exposure to the practical world so as to sharpen and perfect skills learnt and integrate them to work. Special regards goes to Professor Mwaruvie; dean of school, head of department Dr. Mwenje and coordinator criminology; Miss Tabitha for their relentless input to ensure my supervision and well-being during the placement period. ABSTRACT This field attachment report submitted to the probation department is designed to cover numerous tasks that is handled by the department and activities undertaken during the practicum period. Chapter one of this report brings to light the departmental mandate, objectives, core values, mission statement, vision, motto and the organizational structure and chart. It also explore the historical background and provides a descriptive presentation of the probation service. Chapter two provides the highlights on the activities carried out by the organization. In this sense, the functions of the organization are discussed in depth, services offered enumerated and descriptive presentation of key departmental programs enlisted. This chapter also examines the challenges faced by the department and how they were surmounted. Chapter three makes a deliberate attempt at discussing the actual work done in the organization, relationship of work done and skills obtained in class, challenges faced during the field practicum, how the challenges were encountered and professional contribution to organizational growth. Chapter four examines lessons learnt in the organization, professional observation of the work environment and gives an elaborate list of recommendations to the department that if implemented would sharpen its operations for its effectiveness.
