Statuses are essential to everyone because they help identify a person in a social system. The role or position of an individual in a society is their status, and a person can be a child, parent, sister, brother, friend, etc. The most crucial thing in sociology is understanding the difference between ascribed and achieved status. Race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation are some of my ascribed statuses. On the other hand, an undergraduate student, an employee, and a guardian are some of my achieved statuses.
