SUSTAINABILITY, BUSINESS, AND RESPONSIBILITY CASE STUDY: WALMART
As a hired sustainability and responsibility consultant for Walmart, my responsibility will be to identify areas within the organization where the use of energy can be better optimized. The aim will be to help the organization develop robust business cases and identify opportunities to make sustainability a source of increasing and ongoing value. I will focus on conducting an internal and external analysis regarding sustainability and responsibility and find aggressive and defensive strategies in which Walmart can be more sustainable and responsible towards even addressing weaknesses and avoiding threats. Walmart Inc. is an American multinational and one of the world’s largest retail corporations that operate a chain of superstores, grocery stores, and discount department stores in the United States, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas (StartupTalky, 2020). According to an overview report from Walmart, millions of customers visit the company weekly for their acquisitions, while most make online buying through its sites. Walmart began as a solo small discounted store, but for about 50 years now, it has fully grown into one of the biggest retailers with thousands of stores in over 27 nations and websites in ten countries.
