Future challenges for Health care management
Health care management is one of the greatest challenges that most governments are facing. Health care management has a direct impact on the economy of any country. Economically stable countries have their economies well established. Health affects the performance of individuals hence influencing their efficiency in achieving their goals. This essay aims at analyzing the future challenges for health care management.
There are several factors of great threat to the management of health care in the future. These include an aging population, reconfiguration of health sector financing and challenges of implementing integrated health care. Researches show that aging population is increasing at a high rate. Majority of European countries have high life expectancy and low fertility rates. The ratio has led to more death rates than birth rates, which has resulted to an imbalance in old age dependency ratio. An example is on research done by Avramov and Miroslava, which shows that in every 100 people of working age in European countries, there are 25 people who are of age 65 years or more in the year between 2005 and 2025. In the future, there will be an enlarged ratio to 51 of old age in every 100 working age. The second challenge is reconfiguration of health sector is also a major challenge of future management of health care. Researches show that the public sector fund 80% of the health care expenditures and insurance schemes funding 4% of health care in Europe. New health policies are being formulated that will lead to the reconfiguration of health sectors. Changing in funding of health care services will lead to highly expensive services to the citizens. The changes lead to poor delivery of health care services; this is because good health care services are available for the financially stable citizens. The third challenge is challenges of implementing integrated health care. Integrated care is an integral component of health care policy in the western countries. It involves bringing together delivery, inputs organization of services and management related to treatment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, health promotion and care. Implementation of integrated health care may result into defenseless populations falling through the net.
