1. (a) DNA is a macro-molecules which is made up of as nucleotides that are found in all living things, each of this nucleotide contains phosphate group a nitrogen and sugar group. Nitrogen
Bases namely are (A) Adenine, (G) Guanine (T), thymine and (c) cytosine.
(b) RNA (ribonucleic acid) refers to any class of single-stranded molecules compared to the DNA which is the double helix. RNA is transcribed from Deoxyribonucleic acid in the nucleus of a cell.
Comparison between DNA and RNA
o DNA and RNA perform the different function, DN ACD V is responsible for transferring and storing of genetic information while RNA is responsible for the coding for the Amino –acid.
o RNA is single-stranded molecules while DNA is double-stranded.
o RNA also differs from DNA in by having the pyrimidine base uracil instead of thymine
o RNA also do have ribose instead of deoxyribose in its sugar-phosphate backbone
o RNA, when placed in alkaline, is not stable whiles DNA become more stable.
(C) Deoxyribonucleic acid is located in the nucleus of cells
(d) Ribonucleic Acid is mainly found in the cytoplasm, but they are synthesized in the nucleus
Forms of RNA
o . rRNA - Ribosomal RNA-
o mRNA - Messenger RNA-
o tRNA - Transfer RNA-
o
Functions of different types of RNA
o . rRNA - Ribosomal RNA- they are responsible for the production of ribosomes
o mRNA - Messenger RNA- acts like the template of sequence for the synthesis of proteins
o tRNA - Transfer RNA- is the carrier of amino-acid which is to be added to the protein during the synthesis process of protein.
