Money and Sustainability
When many people hear about economic stability they see money. To people, having money means that they are economically stable and that as long as they have cash they can have whatever they so wish. However, there is slight truth in the statement and there is a considerable guise of misrepresentation of facts although not entirely. Thus, while stability may encompass monetary prowess it does not entirely mean that having money leads to utter stability as stability is multifaceted and money is just a single component of what it entails. My understanding is that money only gives a slight depiction of what sustainability is all about. In a more subtle way, I would think of money as a component that exists within sustainability and in relationship to this, someone can have money and still be unstable.
One may be stable, and the amount of money in the picture be the least amongst the factors used to weight his level of stability. While the two may show some dependence, they can only play a minute role towards the existence of each other. I am brought lead to think that the people we term stable are so in our eyes since we cannot decipher their intrinsic beings. The statement by Aldo Leopold, "We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a commodity to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect," comes out truthfully to explain our understanding of sustainability and money. However, with all the money assumptions the articles in the book "Money Changes Everything" seem a bit resigned to the fact that people now see money as the chief source of their joy. One article that stands out is "Till debt do us Apart’ and it gives the situation of marriages in our new age (Loftus 100). In addition to this, a fact shown by Center Roper (24-25) is that the view of marriage as a constituent for good life seems to keep dwindling. These two articles lay down a different perspective of sustainable life altogether.
In the above paragraph, it is easy to denote how I have laid out the interrelationship between money and sustainability. One thing that has been constant is the assumption that money is the route to stability. Money may cause someone have a stable lifestyle based on the way they use it. However, this can only occur if the person’s life only depends on money. A human has more than one factor making sustainability to appear multifaceted. We see life having emotional attachments, fiscal attachments, as well as, other roles that are supportive to the named two. When one takes all these tenets to recreate a human, what they get is a complex being indescribable through a single angle (Weinstein 10). There is no way that we can allude to the fact that humans can be sustained using the money.
Some people muse that one can buy most things that result in happiness. However, it is hard to buy something that you are attached to without people feeling dehumanized.This is because some aspects such as people in our lives are termed invaluable.Thus, we allude to the capacity of money to buy a lot of things; the fact that it cannot buy happiness or friends, or affection leaves it unlimited. In my understanding, sustainability refers to a state where various pertinent needs have been albeit solved to the extent that the individual exists in a state of comfort. He they knowing that at least the problems they have has a lasting solution. It is ideally hard to get a person who can be satisfied and sustained by the mere acquisition of money and no other accomplishments.
