My Contributions towards the Summer Internship LIFT Program
The Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) Summer Internship Program is a program that was instituted to cater for those students who would like to put to practice whatever they have learned in class. I am included in such students. After being admitted into the program, I will make several contributions that will change how things are done. This will not only be essential to my profession, but to me as an individual.
Nursing is something that I developed passion for since the time I watched my grandmother die without any of my help. I have therefore wanted to pursue this profession so that I assist people who need my help. I do feel great saving a life especially when they were in critical conditions. I am pursuing the career with all my determination and energy so that one day I contribute towards saving a person’s life.
I have been involved in various volunteering activities and internships in my respective field of study. I worked in the Department of Labor summer program at the Juan F. Luis Hospital in the summer, 2014. Currently, I am volunteering my services at several daycare centers, Herbert Grigg Home for the Aged, The Annual Agriculture Fair and at the local hospital. At the hospital, I am involved in doing clinical work every Wednesday. Additionally, I have also worked in the labor and delivery, and in the pediatrics and medical departments. Currently, I am a BSc. in Nursing Major at the University of the Virgin Islands.
If considered for the program, I will make several contributions towards the program. First, I have prior experience in nursing. I am cognizant of what I want to do and, therefore, will work diligently and professionalism. My time at our local hospital has taught me that patience and determination are the main pillars for one to be successful in the nursing career. With this, I will work hard while in the program for the best results.
Second, I have experience with people of all ages. Having volunteered in several daycare centers that deal with children, a home for the aged, and in a hospital that deal with people of almost all ages, I can confidently say that I have what it takes for me to sail through the program. Grant me the opportunity and see how I apply the skills I acquired previously to my profession.
Furthermore, I have even gone b...
