My Commitment to Pursue a Career in Nursing Health matters is critical to human beings. Living in confidence that your health is well taken care of is the best thing that can ever happen to the human race. It is a good idea if not the best that there is a scholarship that helps those with the necessary requirements to pursue a career in nursing but do not have financial support. It may not be important for the country to support all other kinds of activities and forget about the health condition in the country and even the economy will not grow due to the unhealthy workforce. Human beings drive the economy and so their health should be well taken care of. There is a sad feeling that I catch when I see patients suffering in a health centre because there are few nurses to attend to them. Some who are in critical condition lose their lives here? These are not the best of things that should be happening and yet there are people who are willing to take the nursing courses in different disciplines but do not have access to finances. Some of the casualties can be avoided if the number of nurses attending to patients is increased to a better ratio of patients to nurses. In delivery wards the situation is no better than what is experienced in the other wards. Women who are in labour are the most delicate to handle. A very minimal mistake may lead to loss of life or lives in that the mother may die, the new born or both may die because they lacked attention from the nurses. It is such a sad thing to happen. This normally happens in the underserved communities. If we have an adequate number of nurses then such conditions may not arise in our health centres. Children die after delivery because nurses in these centres are overburdened and so they cannot concentrate to know what is needed for a given baby even if it is giving pain killers. I am really passionate about pursuing a nursing career. It has been my dream that someday I will get the opportunity of serving others.
