For this essay, I choose the issue of artificial intelligence and its importance to the human species today and in the future. The issues raised by Sam Harris (2016) in his talk on losing control of artificial intelligence helped me attain this research focus. Through my research, I have found the following four sources.

In his article on artificial intelligence, Chorost (2016), presents arguments to counter the widespread philosophical doomsday conspiracies and human extinction threats some people associate with artificial intelligence. In this article, the author explains that the mammalian mind is very complex this attained through many years of evolution, and reach such a state, machines would also have to go through a similar cycle of evolving to reach a similar state or one cognitively higher than that of humans. Considering this, it is thus not possible, essentially not soon, for machines to attain the human-level understanding of the world to a point where they will have a desire to take over the universe and dominate the human race (Chorost, 2016). If these artificial intelligence machines are built to have the reasoning capacity of a human being, it translates that they will be able to have cognitive ability and develop moral intuition. Consequently, because of their heightened processing capacity, their moral intuition will be elevated than that of humans and therefore make them more responsible and self-restrained than human beings. Considering this, people should not be afraid of them but should instead embrace and support for the development of artificial intelligence.
This article is produced in the Future Tense series which is in collaboration with Arizona State University meaning the content is reliable and tailored academically and thus making it a reliable source of information. It is based on current literature available on the topic as it was published in 2016, and will, therefore, be of importance to me by providing a basis for countering the claims against use and development of artificial intelligence as I research on the importance and benefits of artificial intelligence to the world.

This practical application of sensing devices in intelligent robotics, biometric prosthesis, and machine interactions, contribute to the development and enhancement of mobile biomonitoring in medical diagnostics. These flexible organic material based pressure sensors will help fill the gaps in medical monitoring due to their enhanced sensing capacities which even surpass those of the skin. Consequently, improved medical assessment and interventions will be attainable ensuring health complications will be diagnosed early enough at their development stage and consequently lead to the improvement of intervention outcomes.
The health industry is one of the key sectors of concern for human beings, one that can determine the fate and progress of the human race. The emerging disease complications are however becoming a nuisance and a real danger to the people, this mainly due to little understanding of how they emerge or develop. Artificial intelligence through the use of the flexible pressure sensors in the medical analysis would, however, enable for timely prognosis and also assist in understanding the development pathway of the disease (Zang, Zhang, Di, & Zhu, 2014). This article will thus be essential in my argument on the necessity of artificial intelligence and having been published within the decade and affiliated to a well-known organization mean the information provided is accurate and credible.
