Comparison Between Monotasking and Multitasking (Article Sample)

Instructions:

In this article, a comparison is made between monotasking and multitasking. People prefer multitasking because they believe it will help them do many jobs at once and save time. According to studies, the longer you multitask, the worse it gets due to attention residue. It is pointless for someone to believe they are multitasking when they are simply switching between tasks. So, it is suggested that setting your phone down is the most effective approach to increasing your ability to multitask.

Comparison  Between Monotasking and Multitasking
Monotasking is finishing one task at a time, whereas multitasking involves finishing several tasks simultaneously. It is ideal for focusing on one job at a time while reducing distractions until the task is finished, which is known as mono-tasking. Multitasking is favoured because people think they can finish several tasks at once and save time. However, this is untrue. Studies claim that multitasking makes you worse the more you do it owing to a phenomenon known as attention residue, whereas machines have no issue switching between tasks (Feller, 2020).
Human minds are designed to concentrate on one subject at a time, as is common knowledge. Since the advantages of mono-tasking include faster job completion without interruptions, better attention on one activity, and more uncomplicated assignment of responsibility, in my opinion, mono-tasking is more critical than multitasking (Navarro, 2021). However, there are also problems, such as user boredom and the ambiguity of whether the assignment is longer than the actual labour.
