Technology has been applied in many industry to bring more efficiency and help ease the workload carried out in the industries. Taking focus on Toyota industry, apart from the positive results that technology has brought into the company, there are several limitations that it has to the company. Security. The information regarding accounting in a computerized program is limited to the quality of the program itself and the security of the company (Huang, Zhang, Guo, Zhu, & Porter, 2014). Therefore, any information that is poorly protected in the programs and databases leaves an avenue for hackers or unauthorized personnel to access all the information pertaining to finance of the company. These information may be used for malicious purposes that could end up hurting the company and its employees if their financial information is accessed. Another limitation is the ever changing technology. Due to the rapid change of technology, the technology may become outdated over time thus it would require additional cost to upgrade the existing systems. Technology requires knowledgeable staff members in order for it to be effective in its application. Therefore, user error could create a potential threat that could result into incorrect use of the technology thus affecting the company negatively (Huang et al., 2014).
Technology is accompanied by several risks. Hardware and software failure may result into power loss or data corruption which may make the company’s information inaccessible. In addition, malwares may disrupt the computer operations. Hackers may break into the computer systems and get information of the company thus exposing the company to potential threats. Moreover, technology may be used for fraudulent purposes thus going against the law (Huang et al., 2014).
