Grading inflation has been a major obstacle to a successful education system. It is the awarding of high marks to students compared to the past awarding. Unprofessional professors and corruption are the major causes of the grading inflation. Grading inflation leads to indiscipline and overconfident students and unknowledgeable community. It has also lead to unfairness in learning institutions.

Grading Inflation
Grading inflation is the trend of awarding high academic grades to students for work that would have scored lesser grades in the past. It is normally the activity of awarding underserved scores to students. This activity is greatly interfering with the education system since students believe they are bright while in real sense they are dump. In the past, grading system was favourable but in time, this has completely changed. There are many causes of grading inflation and it has a great impact on the education system.
There are several causes of grading inflation. Firstly, there is lack of experienced professors. The professors with no experience lack the knowledge of what is wrong and right in the student’s work and as a result, they end up awarding high grades. Secondly, there is job security. Professors may decide to award student high grades to secure their jobs (Ehlers and Schwager, 2015). Thirdly, there is student expectation. Most students have very high expectations of good results and this leads professors awarding high marks to ensure students still focus on their studies. Fourthly, there is financial aid. Professors have become greedy of money and as a result, students offer them money to receive high grades (Caruth and Caruth, 2013). Lastly, there is avoidance of bad relation with students.
