This book is a fictional book that covers the troubles encountered by Borton Jim in IVK Corporation new post as the CIO. The operations challenges faced by IT leaders day in day out are presented by this story. It gives the highlights the department of IT in a given company time period should be used in the investigating in the modern and new technologies. Therefore, the IT leader model in the story should be come up with so that the development of the IT sector in the company is possible
It begins by Jim elevating in the position and becoming the top head of the department of the IT in the Company. With his leadership, the corporation of IVK realized a rapid development from $41.00 to $233.00 million in a duration of 3 years. When Jim took over the Company as CIO, the company was not growing but was in growth that was flat. At that time, the CEO of the companies had been fired, and Williams Carl had been hired for the same. The new changes were brought in by Carl which made Jim becoming the Manager of IT when Carl fired Davies Bill.at. First, Jim felt he is not the right person for the position because he had no knowledge in IT. For a proper book review, some of the questions should be identified. The question number one is about the duration the department of IT requires to dedicate in the analyzing and screening of technologies that are new.
For answering this question, one must first evaluate the reason for the analysis of the book. The time and effort creation in the department of IT are vital because it leads to the analysis of the technologies that emerge. The necessity of change is important in the department because it helps in the analysis and screening of the technologies that are emerging. Therefore, the department if the IT is able to put aside enough time and efforts on the technologies that are emerging and even encouraging the company to adopt them if the technologies that are emerging if they can add some value to the company. Jim in his position he is able to bring back the confidant of every employee in the company’s departments. He communicates very well with the staff members who are not IT which earns him confidences from them. He let the employees, for instance informing them about blogging in order to the employees who need to know more about IT, are able to do that at the department of IT level. Insecurity sector, Jim had a challenge in communicating and even passing his ideas and thoughts about the security personnel of the company because of the technicality issues. Jim now has a task for integration of the innovative and new means of information to the company. This is the only bridge for him to earn both good reputation and confidence from all employees and department of IT.
To identify the technologies that are new or emerging ones in the market, continuous research should be done. After research, determination on the utilization of the technologies that are new should be taken into consideration. Therefore, the department of IT will be putting aside some of its resources and a good time to this target with the aim of growth or getting the technologies in the market that are newest. The process of searching ensures that the identification of the fast rate emerging technologies are tracked down, and adoption is done.
