In the play, Hamlet is seen to have a loving relationship with King Hamlet the deceased who was his biological father. After seeing his father’s ghost, Hamlet swears to avenge the death of his father. In the play, whatever the ghost told Hamlet he would heed. The ghost told Hamlet to avenge its death and the former swore to do so. In another instance, the ghost appeared to Hamlet when he was scolding his mother Gertrude. The ghost tells Hamlet to treat the Queen gently of which he obeys. Hamlet can be seen to be very loyal to his father, the deceased king. He kills Polonius by mistake thinking that it was his step father Claudius, in attempting to avenge his father’s death. At the end of the play, Hamlet manages to kill Claudius by piercing the latter with the poisoned sword and forcing him to drink poisoned wine. Laertes, Polonius son is a loving and loyal son to his father. Laertes is angered by his father’s death and enraged storm’s the king’s castle demanding justice for his father’s death. Laertes agrees to have a fencing match with hamlet in order to avenge his father’s death. By scratching Hamlet with the poisoned sword, Laertes manages to kill Hamlet, thus, avenges his father’s death. He proves his loyalty to his father by his love and loyalty to his father by scheming with King Claudius on poisoning the sword that he was going to use in the fencing match against Hamlet. However, Polonius did not trust his son Laertes. The former asks Reynolds to spy on his son’s who was in Paris. This was contrary to the trust and loyalty that Laertes had for his father.
Conversely, Hamlet’s relationship with his step father who was his uncle King Claudius is that full of suspicion and hatred. Hamlet decides to stage the play "the murder of Gonzago," in order to force his step father, King Claudius to confess of poisoning King Hamlet. The king makes Hamlet’s friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to become spies. He charges them to spy on Hamlet’s behavior. When king hamlet sends the latter to England in the disguise of protecting him, the real intentions were that he wanted to eliminate Hamlet. Another reason that made King Claudius send hamlet to England was to protect himself against the former. This is because of learning of how Hamlet had killed Polonius who was eaves dropping on the conversation between Hamlet and Queen Gertrude.
