The book ‘Nickle and Dimed’ was written by Ehrenreich, who is in a journey to discover how people in the low-wage salary are able to survive. The books begins by discussing the preparations of Ehrenreich as she plans to enter into a low-wage employment for a short period of time, so as, to investigate poverty and the welfare of the employees. In the beginning of the story, Ehrenreich is seen to wonder how anyone can live on the wages for the unskilled. She is also considered about four million women who earn about $6 to $7 per hour. To answer these questions, she decides to experiment by venturing into the low-wage employment. She however, sets rules and limitations, where she decides that during her experiment there will be no hunger, no homelessness, no relying on her previous skills, and she will have access to a car.
