Resist the Internet” by Ross Douthat is concerned about explaining why people should go against the urge of making use of the internet but rather make use of the traditional methods of learning and communicating. The author in his own opinion thinks that individuals have made themselves a slave to the internet. He states that people are in most of their time stuck on their cellphones or laptops or whichever gadget they are using to traverse the internet taking a look at their profiles and peeping at other people’s lives.
Douthat, within reasonable limits, thinks that the internet in combination with the gadget that we use is beneficial to us. However, the problem comes in when he states that we are not making use of the two within a limit that is reasonable. Douthat is concentrating much on isolating, depersonalizing and downgrading the effect internet has brought to the society. For that reason, I do not see the need to support his article.
His article does not provide any evidence to support his argument in any way. At some point, i wanted to come into agreement with him, but then again he did not give me a reason to. In the article, it felt like he was shouting at length in a wild and for that reason i feel th...
