Case Study: Fetal Abnormality
The advancements in various medical technologies have enabled the detection of any biological abnormalities at an early stage of a child. It creates a platform where parents can make multiple choices basing on the extreme anomalies identified. Several theories have emerged concerning the fetus's moral status, which can be applied when deciding on whether to keep the pregnancy even after the detection of these abnormalities (Giubilini & Minerva, 2013). From a Christian perspective, human persons ae a valuable part of God's creation whose lives, growth, and development should be respected at all costs. The Christian worldview advocates for the protection of each other because it is believed that every person was created in God's image and purpose. The moral agency theory is compatible with this dynamic view that advocates for the preservation of human dignity. This is related to the intrinsic social value and dignity because they all concern various values and standards of human life and living (Crisp & Chen, 2014).
