Ultimately, busing benefitted Boston by the desegregation of the school system, which created equal educational opportunities for all students. It also set the stage for racial reconciliation and the current enriched racial environment of the twenty-first century. Firstly, in 1987, the United States Court of Appeals, in a ruling, established the success of school desegregation in Boston (Fields, 2017). Evidently, during that time, single-race schools had declined in number, which was due to a goodwill gesture from the School Board willing to implement an extensive desegregation program in the school system. Therefore, citing the court’s decision, desegregation was a success.
