Introduction
Crime can be explained through theories which are meant to address certain themes and issues. The theories touch on particulars of the crime and give an overview of what could have happened or what led to the occurrence of the crime committed. There are several theories which are used to explain different cases of crimes. The theories are meant to explain the reasons behind the occurrence of the criminal offense and give answers to some of the questions which are raised about the crime. It is important to note that these theories can be used to analyze different cases, but they can also be suitable for certain cases. The theories are in different categories whereby there is the category of biological theories which offer explanations of crime (Miller, 2009). The biological theories assume that some people are usually born criminals, and they are always psychologically different from the other people who are non-criminals. The second category of theories is the sociological theories which usually assume that crime or criminal activity are factors which are external to the perpetrator or the experiences which they have within the neighborhood, the family or the peer pressure. The third category of theories is the psychological theory of crime, whereby this theory assumes that crime results from personality attributes uniquely possessed, or possessed to a special degree, by the potential criminal. Another category is the socio-psychological theories, whereby the approach is that people learn different criminal behaviors through different forms of learning (Miller, 2009). The paper below touches on a case study of a drug addict who robbed her grandfather. Again, the paper uses three theories to explain the robbery.
