Pricing tactics are an integral part of the pricing strategy where they are actions geared towards the realization of a pricing strategy. According to Masterson & Pickton (2010), “a pricing tactic is defined as a short-term action or one with limited impact beyond the product being priced” (p.362).Pricing tactics entail a manipulation of prices of goods and services and these are discarded as soon as the intended short-term business objectives are achieved. Examples of pricing tactics include price bundling, discriminatory pricing, psychological pricing (prestige pricing, odd-even pricing/charm pricing), piece skimming, discounting (quantity and cash discounts), geographic pricing, and price lining among numerous others.
