Teachers impart knowledge on their students and make close follow ups to ensure a high level of discipline for it is the key to better performance. It is difficult for educators to monitor the activities of the whole population solely, especially in the large schools. Thus, this acts as a calling factor for teachers and parents to unite and work together towards achieving a common goal; boosting performance.
Through annual general meetings, teachers can communicate with parents and shed light on how their children perform. It is a vital strategy in that it caters for parents who did not attend school. Scholars explain to them all that good performance entails, and by so doing, their children cannot dupe them.
The creation of academic clinics could also serve as a platform for enhancing teacher-parent communication. It is a forum whereby a short meeting between the teacher, student, and the parent takes place. In addition, the teacher gives the parent a detailed report on their child’s conduct. Aside from that, the scholar identifies possible remedies and encourages the student to put them into practice.
Teachers should keep records of parents’ contacts to facilitate communication whenever necessary. More often than not, students may be reluctant to provide their parents’ contacts especially in case the school needs to report a disciplinary case (Steve, 2013). It is also advisable for parents to keep in touch with at least one teacher who can update them on their children’s trends academic wise.
